South Bend Community School Corporation’s high school wrestling coaches will offer the district’s first ever wrestling camp for elementary aged students.
The camp will be held Tuesday, July 13 to Thursday, July 15, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. at Madison STEAM Academy, 832 N. Lafayette Boulevard in South Bend. SBCSC students in grades 2-6 are welcome to attend for free. Registration will take place in person on Tuesday, July 13 at 5:00 p.m.
“We’ve known that there’s a growing interest in the sport, for both boys and girls,” said Milton Lee, director of athletics. “To have these coaches join together to provide technique and guidance for these young athletes is going to make a genuine impact on their skills and perseverance as they grow within the community.”
Contact Jason Holecheck, wrestling coach for Washington High School ahead of time to order your campers’ t-shirt by calling 910-320-0543.
Campers will focus on fundamentals, technique, and good sportsmanship. The initiative will transition into an after school wrestling opportunity for elementary students in the coming year.
