John Adams High School was honored with a 2021 College Success Award - Gold by GreatSchools.org.

GreatSchools is a leading nonprofit organization providing high-quality information that helps parents get a great education for their children and for communities to ensure that all students get the support they need to succeed. Their ratings appear on national real estate websites Zillow, Realtor.com, and Redfin. Over 46 million people visited GreatSchools’ website in 2021.

The College Success Award – Gold honors schools with a strong track record of postsecondary success.

"The College Success Gold Award is a direct result of the hard work from our students, teachers, counselors, and parents. We are honored to earn this recognition for our student's success rate after high school," said Adams High School Principal Jim Seitz.

In 2021, a total of 1,770 schools from the following 26 states satisfied the College Success Award – Gold criteria: Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Jersey, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Vermont, Texas, and Virginia.

Winners are selected based on:

  • College preparation
  • College enrollment
  • College performance

Schools with adjusted scores in the top 30 percent for their state that also meet other criteria and schools in which low-income students perform better than 75 percent of the low-income students at other schools in the state (where low-income data are made available) are the final College Success Award winners for 2021.
