Safety is our #1 priority. We have state-of-the-art buses with GPS tracking, crossing gates, computerized routing, and video cameras. In addition, our drivers and paraprofessionals receive ongoing professional growth training in the areas of student management, evacuations, loading and unloading, including federal and state laws.
Please review these bus safety rules with your child so they will be ready to have a safe trip
- Have students ready at their assigned stops at least five minutes prior to scheduled pickup.
- Wait until the bus is completely stopped with the stop arm extended before crossing the street, and cross at lease 10 feet in front of the school bus.
- If you drop something near the bus, tell the bus driver. NEVER try to pick it up as the driver may not see you.
- Wait until the bus stops, the door opens, and the driver says it is okay to step on the bus.
- Get on the bus quickly and take your assigned seat. Assigned seats are required at all levels.
- Buckle your seat belt
- Cooperate with the driver about bus rules and safety issues.
- Remain seated, facing forward, keep your feet out of the aisle.
- No eating or drinking.
- Remain seated until the driver will tells you is is safe to leave the bus.
- Do not ask the driver for special favors or special stops. Drivers are obligated to run routes as written.
- No unauthorized adults or animals
- Ride your assigned bus. Students may ride home with another student if they have a signed note from a parent, confirmed by the principal or designee, and there is room.
Transportation is a privilege. Students who fail to comply with the rules may face disciplinary action. We use a point system; bus drivers assign points to students who misbehave on a school bus.
SBCSC has video recording cameras on our school buses. Video recordings are considered "educational records" and board policy strictly governs the access and use of any video recordings made.
