Incoming South Bend Schools Superintendent Dr. Todd Cummings and the South Bend School Board have announced seven positions that comprise the superintendent’s administrative cabinet.
“This is the most significant administrative reorganization that the SBCSC has seen in 25 years,” Cummings said. “The breadth of experience, knowledge and enthusiasm this new team brings is truly impressive and will help move the entire district forward.”
The only new positions in the cabinet are Executive Director of Public and Government Affairs and Chief Equity Officer. The other cabinet positions are reconfigured and renamed positions for which funding was already in place.
Currently, because of retirements or voluntary resignations, there are five vacant positions with the SBCSC that Cummings will not replace.
Additionally, in Phase II of the reorganization, several other positions will be combined or eliminated as a cost-savings measure and will be announced later in the month.
“By streamlining positions in the corporation, we can more efficiently and responsibly meet our ultimate goal of providing a quality educational experience for all students in the South Bend School Corporation,” Cummings said.
“Savings to the overall budget can be used to more directly benefit our students and educators.”
