Why Work at SBCSC?

SBCSC has 21 Career and Technical Education programs for high school students to choose from.

SBCSC has nine elementary school magnet programs, seven middle school magnet programs, and five high school magnet programs.

2021

  • Swanson Traditional School was named a 2021 National Blue Ribbon School by the United States Department of Education, one of six in Indiana. The award is given to schools based on their progress in closing achievement gaps or overall academic performance among student subgroups.
  • Adams High School named 2020 Purple Star school, the only school in St. Joseph County to earn this award. The Indiana Department of Education Purple Star school designation honors schools that have displayed a significant commitment to service members, veterans, students, and families connected to our nation’s military.
  • Dr. C. Todd Cummings, Superintendent of South Bend Community School Corporation, has been named one of 25 “Superintendents to Watch” nationally by the National Schools Public Relations Association (NSPRA) for “demonstrating dynamic, fast-paced leadership with strong communication at its core.”
  • South Bend’s Riley High School was named a “Distinguished School” by Project Lead the Way (PLTW) for two years in a row. PLTW is an Indianapolis based non-profit that offers students the opportunity to develop skills for “problem solving, critical and creative thinking, collaboration, and communication“ through a STEM based curriculum.
  • We are a local leader in closing the digital divide. We partner with City of South Bend and enFocus as Citywide Classroom South Bend to provide internet services and devices to local students and families in the City of South Bend to make sure they can continue to learn effectively.   • The U.S. News 2019 Best High Schools includes John Adams High School at #44 in Indiana, in the top 12% nationally, and is one of two high schools in St. Joseph County to rank in Indiana’s top 50.
