Community members are invited to join district leadership and bring ideas to help shape the future of SBCSC.

The South Bend Community School Corporation (SBCSC) will hold a series of 90- minute conversations with the public on the topics of literacy, empowerment, and financial sustainability for the district. Anyone living or working in South Bend is encouraged and welcome to attend.

“Community Listening Tours,” designed to garner input and gather ideas from community members on the district’s three top priority topics, will be held Saturday, October 12 from 9:30-11:00 a.m. at Ivy Tech Community College, 220 Dean Johnson Blvd. in South Bend; Tuesday, October 15 from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at John Adams High School; and Tuesday, October 22 from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at Washington High School. In addition to SBCSC Superintendent Dr. Todd Cummings, the meetings will include South Bend School Board members and SBCSC Cabinet members. Community members are encouraged to bring specific ideas for discussion and possible inclusion in future plans for the corporation.

“More than ever before, our district must use its resources deliberately and effectively,” Cummings said. “I value the input of all our stakeholders, whether they are parents, teachers, corporate leaders, or simply citizens who are invested in South Bend.”

“The health and vitality of any community is directly tied to the health and vitality of its community schools, and the only way we can improve is if we work closely together. Our students deserve the best education we can provide them,” he added.
