CTE Information Technology program receives statewide Award for Excellence
South Bend, IN-February 8, 2017-South Bend Community School Corporation’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) Department is pleased to announce that their Information Technology (IT) program is this year’s recipient of the state’s highest recognition for a (CTE) program. The CTE Program Award for Excellence is sponsored by the Indiana Department of Education with support from the Indiana Association of Career and Technical Education Districts (IACTED).
The SBCSC CTE IT program, which consists of both Computer Tech Support, Networking and Security, is being recognized statewide in 2017 for excellence in career and technical education. The Award for Excellence is an award given to the top program in the state that exemplifies the highest standards in a CTE program. Criteria for award selection are based on program design, resource utilization, and program outcomes.
The award will be presented to SBCSC CTE’s IT program at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 17th in a public ceremony at the Indiana Government Center South Auditorium in Indianapolis, Indiana.
SBCSC CTE’s Information Technology program, led by Mr. Walt Jaqua, embodies the core values of serving his students and having the utmost commitment to CTE. The program offers both dual high school and college credit and industry certification.
Not only is Mr. Jaqua’s IT program being recognized as the top IT program in the state, Mr. Jaqua himself was honored in August 2016 at the CompTIA Partner Summit in Florida for his dedication to improving IT instruction. Mr. Jaqua’s work with SBCSC was featured in the January, 2017 edition of Certification Magazine.
