National Day of Remembrance for Murder Victims

The National Day of Remembrance for victims of murder will take place on September 25, 2021, where surviving friends and family across the country will gather to honor the memories of those who lost their lives because of violent crime.

South Bend’s Day of Remembrance is a collaboration among Mayor James Mueller’s Office, the South Bend Common Council, and the South Bend Community School Corporation.

Local events are planned across the South Bend area from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 25:

1:00 p.m. at the County City Building, city leaders will gather to honor all area murder victims, including Brandon Williams, who was killed in a mass shooting in 2019, as well as the additional 134 people who have been murdered in South Bend over the past ten years.

2:00 p.m., a mobile art exhibit, created by South Bend Community School Corporation students whose lives have been impacted by murder, will be unveiled at Howard Park. The exhibit will travel around the South Bend community.

3:00 p.m., at Kelly’s Pub, site of a 2019 mass shooting, where survivors, families, and friends will gather to remember all victims of gun violence.
