How will Parents, Students, and Staff be Notified of a 2-Hour Delay?

By 5:30 a.m. parents and staff will be notified by telephone via the automated notification system. The information will also be available at the following:

  • Local TV news & media
  • School websites
  • Social media (Facebook & Twitter)
  • 574-393-SNOW (7669)

What Factors Result in a 2-Hour Delay? 

Temporary circumstances such as extreme weather, facilities or equipment failure, and enviornmental hazard or a public crisis that causes a significant safety risk. 

What Happens if the 2-Hour Delay Turns into a Closing of Schools?

The decision and announcement to change the 2-hour delay to an official closing will be made by 7:00 a.m. The day will be considered a missed day. Students will not be required to report to school, practice, or after school programs during the day. Hourly employees will be paid for their time worked as defined by their contracts. 

Will Buses Run on 2-Hour Delay Days?

Yes. Bus pick-up times will be 2 hours later than the usual schedule. (For example: if your bus time is 6:45 a.m., your bus delay pick-up time is 8:45 a.m.)

Will Breakfast be Available?

Yes. Continental breakfast will be available to students once buildings open. 

What Happens if the 2-Hour Delay Falls on a Testing Day?

The missed testing will be rescheduled using the built-in extra testing time.

When will School Classes Start for Students and Teachers?

High School: 9:45 a.m.

Intermediate Center: 9:45 a.m.

Primary Center: 10:15 a.m.

Rise Up Academy: 11:15 a.m.

How will the Class Schedule be Adjusted? 

The classes missed during a 2-hour delay will be missed for students and instructors. Students will report to their regularly scheduled class during a 2-hour delay. 

Will there be a Make-up Day for Missed Time? 

No. The 2-hour delay will count as a regular day. Those instructional hours missed due to the 2-hour delay will not be made up. 

Zero Hour / Athletics / After School / Extracurricular Activities:

Zero Hour classes will run on a 2-hour delay schedule. Morning athletic practices will be adjusted for the 2-hour delay schedule and coaches will communicate with athletes of their adjusted schedules. After school athletics and extracurricular activities will run as scheduled during a 2-hour delay, unless communicated otherwise by coaches or directors.
